Abstract Since the first liver transplantation (LT) was executed by Thomas E. Starzl in 1963, the past six decades have witnessed rapid progresses in LT, especially in the immunosuppressive agents, surgical techniques, and perioperative managements. LT has been well-recognized as the only curative intervention for end-stage liver diseases. In this special issue on frontiers in LT, authors from several international LT centers summarized the current state and progresses in LT, including selection criteria for LT candidates, and precise management in LT recipients with HCC.
